Over the last two decades, there has been a resurgence in scholarly work studying the economic history of colonized regions. Researchers have asked new questions, mined previously underexplored data, and used innovative methods to investigate lived experiences in the colonies as well as the channels through which colonial institutions in the past affect livelihoods in the present. My expertise speaks directly to this body of work.
